Set me free! By: Omar Black

When young Timothy spotted his mother's car turning on to his block he couldn't help but smile and get excited. He hadn't seen his mother in almost two days because she pulled in a back to back to back shifts downtown at the hospital. She's exhausted her eyes hasn't closed in more than 48 hours but she could see her young so run from her porch to the sidewalk. The entire time while Timothy was jumping for joy because his mother is finally home a huge commotion was going on next door between brother in laws Rashard and Eddie who argued back and forth about Rashard's mistreatment of Eddie's sister Lynne. Lynne stood in the doorway just behind her brother Eddie who prevented Rashardfrom entering their home. The argument turned into a struggle and then a gun was pulled out by Eddie. Rashard did his best to knock the gun out of his hand but once he realized he couldn't wrestle the gun away from him he shoved him to the floor and lunged at his girlfriend. He shoved her to the floor and that's when Eddie aimed his gun at Rashard who's eyes widened. Rashard could only think to run which is what he did. He spotted young Timothy standing next door on the sidewalk and he ran in his direction. Eddie didn't spot Timothy nor did he see the car pulling into his next door neighbor's driveway he just began shooting in Rashard's direction. He hit Rashard once in the back but Eddie didn't just shoot once. The other Bullet went straight through Rashard's arm and into Timothy's chest. The only thing that could be heard afterwards was the sound of Timothy's mother yelling out "no not my son!" Eddie didn't see Timothy until Rashard hit the floor just a few feet away from where Timothy stood. Eddie dropped the gun immediately when he realized just what he did. Timothy's mother grabbed a hold of her son as he lied lifeless on the sidewalk with blood flowing out of his body. All his mother could think was how will she ever be set free from all of the pain she's enduring now and in the future.... To be continued!
