If you have an ex you feel just like Alonso feels. "Erica needed him!" are words he mentions every so often whenever her name is brought up in his presence. The quiet shy girl she once was when she dated him is now a New York Times best selling author and he believes she owes that all to him. Although he put her through hell while they were in a relationship together he never truly made her feel wanted and he feels that he motivated her to do better and that's exactly what she did. Ever since her success she's been in New York. She now very rarely visits Charlotte because of her busy schedule and that too Alonso believes is because of him. She needed him to get where she is now and despite his off the wall behavior whenever anyone says anything positive about her when he's around. He knows that her journey with him helped her become the great author that she's always been. He helped her find her voice when she couldn't speak. He helped her gain courage when she didn't know what the word meant and that allowed her to become what she is today and he believes he deserves all of the credit for that. He can think what he thinks fact remains that she's set herself up for a great future thanks to the money she's making from her book sales. Meanwhile Alonso is still stuck in his own world being a womanizer and living everyday with envy in his heart because his ex Erica is stronger without him more so than she ever was with him.
